The GREAT Edward here,
Welcome to this installment of…
Share Your DREAM Friday!
It is with great pleasure that I bring to you today Special Guest Dreamer Terrific Tonya Heathco.
This is one person that came into my life and touched me deeply. I am grateful for having the opportunity to connect with her.
With every guest that joins us here on Share Your DREAM Friday, I get on the phone and ask them a couple of things… the first is tell me about yourself and your dreams and the second is how did you come to find me online and connect with me to the point where you would like to share your dream with me and the world.
The answer I got for how did you find me touched my heart. Terrific Tonya said she saw me online and said to herself, who is this guy that is calling himself The GREAT Edward? She started watching my videos and interacting with comments and then said well if he can call himself The GREAT Edward then I can call myself Terrific Tonya. Then she told me, since I started doing that my seizers have stopped. I was totally humbled and speechless. This is why I love what I do. The people I touch and share with is absolutely amazing. Thank you Terrific Tonya for your blessing in my life.
Tonya is a wife and mother with a dream to conquer and eliminate the stigma on seizer disorders. I have no doubt that with her passion, determination, and conviction that it will come to be.
Please join me in celebrating Terrific Tonya as she shares the rest of her dream with us today.
Terrific Tonya from Tennessee meeting with you today to share my dream of creating hope for people living with seizure disorders(a.k.a Epilepsy) and people physically caring for them(caretakers). I am sharing my dream with you on a special day. I am 1 in over 3 million Americans living with a seizure disorder. Today, the first time in 25 years, marks 6 weeks of freedom from seizure activity in my life. The gift with which I was born spawned a great dream in me. After searching for many years my dream became evident upon meeting Edward Elliott on Facebook. Through my experience with many Epilepsy related non profits, I saw a common lack for support for patients and caretakers affected by seizure disorders. Epilepsy non profits, for the most part, stress raising funds to find a cure and raising awareness of the reality epilepsy. My dream is to see the stigma of seizures eradicated and the fear and helplessness of living with seizure disorders overcome. Patients and caretakers need to find hope through support and education and peace through understanding and acceptance. The non-affected public needs education on the different types of seizures, different causes, and effective first aid in order that the stigma be eradicated. My intentions are to rid the nation of the stigma of Epilepsy just as it has disappeared from AIDS, Cancer, and other major diseases and to give affected individuals what they need, understanding, acceptance, love, and hope. I have begun to realize my dream by opening a support community on FaceBook under the acronym L.O.V.E. (Learning from Others about Various Epilepsies). This private group has room for individuals with seizure disorders and those that care for them. If you live with seizures or support someone living with a seizure disorder, look us up and request access. My dream extends to expanding L.O.V.E. into the non-profit field in order to raise funds for local support groups, events, and a program to help members with medical costs. It’s a huge dream and has been in my heart for many years. I know with a little help from all of my friends, both off line and online, my dream will become reality.
Thank you Terrific Tonya for sharing your dream with us all.
Many good things are happening with Tonya as she moves forward towards her dreams.
She is reviving the old title ” National Seizure Disorders Foundation” of which much information can be found here: http://www.squidoo.com/livingwithBPNH
She is also enjoying building plans for fund-raisers this Spring in order to get funding to make the foundation a non-profit foundation (I have been told I will need $1200 USD) and meeting with the mayor of my city to establish seizure awareness day (March 26) and seizure awareness month (November).
She has a busy, busy, and full of life and enjoying every moment of seeing my dream unfold.
